24/7 Repair Service

Florida creates a humid climate where an air conditioner is needed for a majority of the year. When the air conditioner fails, you need service as soon as possible. This is why Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning provides 24/7 repair services for your convenience.

There are separate fees between normal and after hours service:

$95 trip and diagnostic fee during normal business hours

$140 trip and diagnostic fee during after hours

Maintenance

You wouldn’t drive your car 100,000 miles without changing the oil. The same logic holds true for your home comfort system. Regular HVAC preventative maintenance is the best way to ensure trouble-free operation and peak performance. Pre-season maintenance is also important. It can help to avoid a system failure in severe hot or cold weather when you need it most, and it can also keep your energy bill from getting out of control.

The old adage is true: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

For a heat pump system that heats and cools: perform maintenance in the spring and fall.

For cooling system maintenance only: perform maintenance at least once a year, before the cooling season.

For furnace maintenance only: perform maintenance at least once a year, before the heating season.

Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning provides priority service for their customers who have a bi-annual maintenance agreement. Bi-annual preventative maintenance will ensure that your system runs as efficiently as possible.

AprilAire Filter Upgrade

AprilAire filters make your home air as clean as possible by removing finer particles than a 1″ filter. APCO UV Light (IAQ)

A UV light in your HVAC system is designed to reduce airborne odors, germs, microbrial growth, and other airborne carcinogens without producing any harmful ozone – improving your Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). UV light technology is a proven and effective means of controlling microbrial pathogens, which are too small to be captured by standard filtration methods. Any one of our Service Tecnicians or Comfort Specialists can give further details on how a UV light can add comfort to your home.

Florida is known as the lightning capital of the United States. A surge protector for your HVAC system is designed to provide an unmatched level of protection against damaging surges. Our skilled Service Technicians carry top of the line surge protectors in their trucks to install for your convenience.

Pull & Clean

Air filters are designed to keep the evaporator coil clean. If a poor filter was installed, the filter wasn’t installed properly, or the filter isn’t changed frequently enough – the evaporator coil can freeze up not allowing the system to operate. A “pull & clean” service will allow the HVAC unit to become operational. The technician will remove the refrigerant, remove the evaporator coil, and chemically clean it outside. Then, the evaporator coil will be reinstalled and the refrigerant added back to the system for functional operation.

Leak Search

HVAC systems have roughly 3 miles of copper lines, plus the evaporator coil, that hold and transfer all the refrigerant. This network of contained refrigerant is 100% sealed where it is constantly recycled under high pressure. These leaks are identified with an electronic leak detector that “sniffs” for the exact location of the leaking refrigerant.

Leaks are more common in the evaporator coil as it is the thinnest metal of the entire system. Age and lack of maintenance can create microscopic leaks that might require the evaporator coil to be replaced. Some leaks in the copper line can be temporarily fixed, but it’s not recommended to “patch” up aging copper lines. Depending on the location and severity of the leak, the entire HVAC system may need to be replaced.

Microbiocide Treatment

This treatment is a bacteriostat, fungistat, and deodorizer. It is recommended for control of bacteria, microbrial growth, and mildew. The microbiocide treatment is applied to ventilating equipment.
