Cooling
Reliable cooling built for the long, humid Florida season — repair, replace, and maintain, all makes and models.
Overview
In Florida, your air conditioner works harder than almost anywhere else in the country. It runs for much of the year and becomes essential during the intense heat and humidity of summer. For more than 35 years, Bertie Heating & Air Conditioning has helped homeowners stay comfortable with dependable cooling, expert workmanship, and honest service. Whether you need a fast repair, a high-efficiency replacement, or a maintenance plan to protect your investment, our experienced technicians are ready to help. We service all makes and models and stand behind our work with a 100% satisfaction commitment personally backed by owner Jim Bertie.
How It Works
A full system check — refrigerant, airflow, electrical, and controls — so the repair addresses the cause, not the symptom.
We believe in earning your trust with clear options and honest pricing. If repairing is the best value, we’ll recommend it. If your system is costing you more in repeated breakdowns and inefficiency, we’ll explain why replacement may be the better long-term investment.
Clean, careful work with the right tools, quality parts, and attention to detail. We take pride in doing the job right the first time, minimizing callbacks and ensuring your system operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Before we leave, we confirm your system is operating properly and performing as expected. We test key functions, verify airflow and temperatures, and make sure everything is working safely and efficiently. Then we walk you through the work that was completed, answer any questions, and provide clear recommendations so you know exactly what was done and what to expect moving forward.

At least once a year, though many Florida homeowners benefit from twice-yearly maintenance because of the state’s long cooling season and high humidity. A pre-summer tune-up in late winter or early spring is the minimum recommended service. Florida air conditioners accumulate significantly more operating hours than systems in cooler northern climates, which means more wear and tear on components.
A good rule of thumb is to consider replacement when a repair costs more than about one-third of the price of a new system, especially if your current unit is 12 years old or older. Replacement is also often the smarter long-term investment for systems that use R-22 refrigerant, which has been phased out and is increasingly expensive and difficult to obtain.
Yes. We repair and maintain all makes and models, and we are factory certified with all major brands.
Common causes are a refrigerant leak, a failed capacitor, a frozen evaporator coil, or a clogged condensate drain. Our diagnostic isolates which one so you are not guessing — or paying for the wrong part.
